Digital Marketing, is a module we ought to follow for our 4th year 1st Semester as Interactive Media undergraduates in SLIIT ! ^_^
Yeah....I know it's not the correct definition for DM though. But this blog post is a result of that module. Here I'm starting the actual business then....
There are mainly two types of marketing. They are ATL (Above The Line) Marketing and BTL (Below The Line) Marketing. Digital marketing falls under the Below The Line category.
Digital marketing simply means promotion/marketing of products via one or more forms of electronic media.
Today e-commerce has become the most trending mode of doing businesses and transactions. There are 3 known phases of E-commerce. They are
- Portal
- Transaction Gateway
- Delivery
Digital marketing comes in handy during the above mentioned first phase of E-commerce, the Portal. The E- commerce portal is the place where you can sell, promote your products or services to the customers. Marketing is everything in a business. Literally!!
Organic Vs Inorganic Digital Marketing (Search Engine Optimization)
Organic SEO - Organic search engine optimization is the natural way of ranking of websites, without any payments involved. It is mostly done by considering the users' clicks.
Inorganic SEO - This is the paid method for giving a top rank to a website. This includes paid services such as PPC ( Pay per click), CPC ( Cost per click), CPA ( Cost per acquisition), banner ads etc. This is a very expensive, yet quick method of marketing through web based services.
Today, marketing through social media has become a rapidly increasing and an effective marketing strategy. Facebook pages, social media advertisements and promotions are such widely used digital marketing gestures that can be seen today.
- Reach - In simple words, reach happens when a potential user sees an advertisement or a promotional business page in Facebook or any social media/website and decides to click on that link and view it.
- Engagement - If any person who committed the reach or viewed an advertisement or a page, decides to comment, like, share or do any sort of engagement with that business party, it is called an engagement.
- Impression - Is the effect that leaves in consumer.
